A New Chapter in Liberia

By the International Missions Team
Trip Date: May 24–28, 2025
✍🏽 Location: Brewerville, District 17, Liberia

When we think of missions, we think of going beyond our walls to serve and uplift communities across nations. And in the heart of West Africa, something beautiful is unfolding—GlobeServe Liberia is rising, and hope is taking root in Brewerville.

This May, our International Missions Director; ‘Rev. Samuel Dunya Jnr.‘ and team embarked on a significant visit to Liberia—our second since launching GlobeServe Liberia on January 1, 2025. This trip was more than an engagement; it was a reaffirmation of our commitment to love, train, and build.

Strengthening the Family: A Church Encouraged

The Sunday service in Liberia was alive with joy—songs of praise, drama ministrations, a vibrant choir, and a church hungry for God. We preached from Acts 2:42–47, reminding the congregation of the powerful unity and mission of the early church. We also reflected on our theme for the year: “Be a Witness”, drawing from Matthew 28:19–20, Acts 1:8, and Revelation 7:9.

The passion was evident. The desire to grow, to go, and to serve was written on every face.

Building with Intentionality: Equipping the Leaders

One of the central goals of this trip was leadership development. We met with a committed and capable team: national overseer and wife, associate pastor, secretary, administrator, financial secretary, elder, and missions director.

The team received hands-on training and resources including:

  • Church reporting booklets

  • Financial tracking materials

  • Tithe cards and calendars

  • Administrative and constitutional guides

Every leader was equipped to steward their roles with excellence, understanding not just the “how,” but the “why” behind every directive.

Rooted in Vision: The GlobeServe Foundation Course

We hosted a two-day training (May 26–27) for over 25 leaders, teaching the GlobeServe Foundation Course. This course clarified our vision, values, and tenets of faith. We also touched on Deaconship and Eldership—empowering leaders with biblical expectations and spiritual understanding.

A particularly moving moment came during a discussion on the use of anointing oil, which has been a common practice in Liberia. After careful teaching and open dialogue, the leadership unanimously agreed to discontinue its use, embracing biblical clarity.

Resources like the Abundant Life and Spirit World discipleship series were also handed over to continue the training at departmental levels.

Planting for the Future: Groundbreaking of GlobeServe HQ Liberia

May 27th was a milestone. We broke ground for the headquarters church in Brewerville—on a one-plot piece of land that now carries the hopes of a growing community. Prayers, worship, and the Word filled the air as leaders spoke life into the land.

Key facts:

  • It’s the only church in this developing part of District 17.

  • The land is roadside, and though distant from the main road, it’s part of a fast-growing community.

  • Construction has already started, with the team aiming to complete the foundation, pillars, and roofing within one month!

Highlights and Honest Realities

The visit affirmed so much:

  • Leaders were competent, many still pursuing higher education.

  • The unity in the church was evident in their love and collective effort—around 100 members strong.

  • The teaching was transformative, providing doctrinal clarity and direction.

  • Construction has begun, and the spirit of the people is willing.

But like any good work, challenges exist:

  • The church land is distant and lacks electricity.

  • Transportation is a challenge for the pastor as he supervises the site.

  • Funds are tight—some set aside for legal documentation had to be used for church drums.

What’s Next?

GlobeServe is not just visiting Liberia—we’re here to stay and grow. And that means planning with purpose.

We recommend:

  • Purchasing the current church location to serve as a second branch.

  • Supporting Pastor Chea’s marriage ceremony and ordination.

  • Providing a motorcycle for the pastor.

  • Funding probate completion for the land.

  • Continuing financial support to complete the church structure (foundation to roofing).

Come June, Pastor Chea and two leaders will attend the GlobeServe School of Missions and Church Planting in Tamale—yet another opportunity to strengthen the foundation of Liberia’s spiritual growth.

In Their Words

"This training changed how we see our roles as leaders. We are now more united in vision."

"We are honored to be a part of GlobeServe. This is just the beginning."

Final Words: We Are Building More Than a Church

What’s happening in Liberia is bigger than buildings—it’s the building of people. From training leaders to laying physical foundations, GlobeServe is living out its mandate: taking the Gospel, planting churches, and raising disciples.

Thank you for partnering with us. There’s still work to be done, and we invite you to journey with us as we build hope, brick by brick, heart by heart.
