Yeji Justice Initiative: Bringing Justice, Health, and Hope to Fishing Communities
The Yeji Justice Initiative is committed to addressing the urgent issues of child trafficking, forced labor, and community neglect in Ghana’s fishing communities. As part of this year’s preparations for the Gospel of Justice Conference in Yeji, our team embarked on a two-day community outreach, bringing not only relief supplies but also the message of God’s justice and love.
Through this outreach, hundreds of men, women, and children received mosquito nets, deworming medications, and clothing. But beyond the supplies, the real impact is found in the trust built with families, the awareness created, and the commitments made by community members to protect vulnerable children.
Why Outreach in Yeji Matters
The Yeji area, located along the Volta Lake, is one of the regions most affected by child labor in the fishing industry. Many children are trafficked from poor families and forced into dangerous work on fishing boats instead of attending school. This cycle not only robs them of their childhood but also leaves families and entire communities trapped in poverty and exploitation.
The Yeji Justice Initiative responds with:
Health interventions to protect children and families.
Community engagement to build trust and awareness.
Faith-based justice education through the Justice Conference.
Practical support for widows, the aged, and families in crisis.
This two-day outreach was a vital step in strengthening relationships with communities and preparing them for deeper conversations at the upcoming conference.

Obiarabannye

Day 2: Friday Outreach – Sokpoe, Sodja Ekura & Afienyakrom
Sokpoe & Sodja Ekura
180 mosquito nets distributed, reaching nearly every household.

53 participants registered for the Justice Conference.
Afienyakrom
87 mosquito nets distributed.
123 people dewormed (58 adults and 65 children).

“For years, outsiders only came to take from our lake. This is the first time people have come to give us something that will protect our children.” – Mother from Afienyakrom
The Impact in Numbers (Day 1 & 2 Combined)
444 mosquito nets distributed.
691 people dewormed (386 adults and 305 children).
182 participants registered for the Justice Conference.
Beyond the numbers, these two days created a foundation of trust and hope. By meeting immediate needs, GlobeServe opened doors for deeper conversations on child protection, justice, and freedom from trafficking.
Justice Rooted in the Gospel
At its heart, the Yeji Justice Initiative is not only about relief; it is about restoring dignity and protecting the vulnerable in the name of Christ. Every mosquito net and every pill is a tangible expression of God’s love. Every registration for the Justice Conference is a step closer to building a community where children are safe, families are strong, and leaders are accountable.
Looking Forward: The Justice Conference
The upcoming Gospel of Justice Conference in Yeji will bring together local leaders, families, and stakeholders from across the fishing communities. Building on the outreach, the conference will address issues of:
Child trafficking and forced labor.
Family and livelihood challenges.
Community-based solutions for justice.
Entrepreneurial training and empowerment.
It is our prayer that these efforts will ignite a lasting justice movement in Yeji and beyond.
