Hope for Children and Widows in Northern Ghana

At GlobeServe Ministries International, we believe the love of Christ must be demonstrated in practical acts of compassion. This past season, our outreach; in collaboration with Westwood in Northern Ghana touched two of the most vulnerable groups in society: children struggling with hunger and widows and aged women abandoned by their families.

Through our Annual School Feeding Program and the Westwood Christmas Grant for Widows and Aged in Gbintri, we were able to bring both physical nourishment and spiritual hope to hundreds of people in need.

Annual School Feeding Program: 250 Children Fed

This year’s School Feeding Program reached 250 children who often face food insecurity and malnutrition. By providing nutritious meals, GlobeServe is not only fighting hunger but also encouraging school attendance and learning. For many of these children, this was the only guaranteed hot meal of the day.

“When children are nourished, they are able to learn, play, and dream again. Feeding a child is feeding the future.” — GlobeServe Volunteer

Westwood Christmas Grant: Supporting Widows & Aged in Gbintri

The second arm of this outreach focused on one of the most neglected groups in Northern Ghana: widows and aged women. Tragically, many of these women are often branded as witches, abandoned, beaten, and left homeless. Without the strength to farm or earn income, they are left to suffer in silence.

Through the generous support of the Westwood Christmas Grant, GlobeServe provided 215 widows and aged women in the Gbintri community with essential food supplies, including:

  • Bowls of Corn

  • Bowls of Rice

  • Bottles of Cooking Oil

  • Tins of Mackerel

A Ministry of Dignity and Hope

About 90% of these women are members of GlobeServe Missionary Churches in the Gbintri district, faithfully serving despite their struggles. A small fraction are yet to come to Christ but acts of compassion like this open hearts to the everlasting love of our Lord.

For these women, receiving food was more than charity, it was a reminder that they are seen, valued, and loved by God.
