GTVETS: Raising Skilled Professionals for Ghana's Future

At GlobeServe Ministries International, we believe that vocational training is more than the transfer of a skill. It is an act of faith in a person’s future. At the Globeserve Technical Vocational and Entrepreneurial Training School (GTVETS), we are watching that belief become a reality, one student at a time.

A School on the Move

The second semester report covering January to April 2026 paints an encouraging picture. GTVETS is currently serving 52 active students across six trade areas, with an attendance rate of 95%. That figure is not just a statistic. It reflects students who are showing up, staying engaged, and committing to a future that was not guaranteed to them.

The six trade areas offered at GTVETS are plumbing, building and construction, welding, wood technology, electrical technology, and electronic technology. Together, these disciplines cover the core practical needs of Ghana’s growing economy, from residential construction to industrial electrical work. Welding leads enrolment with 14 students, followed by wood technology with 12 and electrical technology with 10.

What Students Are Learning

Academic achievement at GTVETS is not limited to the workshop floor. Students are performing well in core subjects including English and entrepreneurship, equipping them not only to do technical work but to build businesses, communicate professionally, and lead in their communities. The curriculum has been deliberately designed in collaboration with industry experts to ensure it meets real market demands.

Beyond technical competence, GTVETS invests in the whole person. A peer mentoring programme has been launched this term, fostering accountability and mutual support among students. Counselling programmes and workshops are helping students develop self-confidence, communication skills, and resilience. These are not soft additions to the curriculum. They are the foundations of a life well-lived.

Community and Family

One of the most encouraging developments this term has been the deepening involvement of parents and families in school life. Parents have shown strong attendance at school events and are participating actively in dialogues about their children’s education. Regular newsletters and meetings are maintaining open channels of communication between the school and home, ensuring that the values and goals of GTVETS are reinforced outside the classroom.

Teachers have consistently reported that their students show notable strength in practical skills and hands-on creativity. Continuous assessment methods are being used to track individual progress, and teachers are fully committed to helping every student reach their potential. The school’s leadership is equally committed to academic rigour, encouraging students to deepen their theoretical understanding alongside their practical work.

Looking Ahead: The Workshop Under Construction

Infrastructure development is underway at GTVETS, with the construction of a new workshop building actively progressing. This facility will expand the school’s capacity to deliver hands-on training and accommodate more students across all six trade areas. It is a tangible investment in the next generation of skilled workers and entrepreneurs in Ghana.

GTVETS is not simply preparing students for jobs. It is preparing them for lives of dignity, contribution, and purpose. Every plumber trained, every welder equipped, every carpenter mentored is part of GlobeServe’s broader mission to serve the world in the name of Jesus Christ.
